Two Detroit rappers known as Mell and Domo were murdered after they left a club Friday night. Recently, the two rappers were on the radio. Just as they performed together, they had no idea that they would die together.
Here’s What Happened:
Ramell Campbell, who was also known as “Mell” was an up-and-coming rapper in Detroit. He was a person who was very involved in the Detroit Rap music scene as his Instagram page has almost 47 thousand followers. On social media, he went by the username 47entertainment_ where he often posted videos of him performing as well as pictures of himself in the studio. Like most hip hop entertainers, his social media page also showed pictures of him in front of expensive cars, wads of cash, and photos in strip clubs. In fact, before he was killed, Mell posted a video of himself performing at a Detroit strip club called Erotic City. He wasn’t booked to do a show but he never missed an opportunity to do what he loved.

On Friday, Mell was featured on Detroit radio station Hot 107.5 to be apart of their freestyle Friday hip hop cypher. He wasn’t alone as he was featured on the show with his longtime friend, Dominique Brown, 26. Mell and Brown, also known as Domo, had been friends since high school and they both had dreams of being successful rap artists. Domo had just recently started pursuing a career in music and she was excited about the possibilities.
Early Sunday morning, Mell and Domo were leaving a nightclub when they were ambushed. While traveling on the freeway, police officers determined that multiple shots were fired over a stretch of the freeway leading to where the victim’s vehicle came to rest. Police said someone fired 30 rounds into the white Chrysler 200 that Brown and Campbell were traveling in and police believe they were targeted. Sadly, Brown lost her life on her older brother’s birthday. Family members of Brown believe that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Barha Matthews, the mother of Dominique Brown, shared her heartbreak with Click On Detroit about her only daughter’s death. Dominique leaves behind a 4-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter. Her mother learned of her death on social media.
It was devastating to learn about it on social media, Matthews said. Words can’t explain. Parent’s worst nightmare. They’re never going to know their mom ever again in life, and telling him this, I don’t even know how to break it to him, Matthews said to Click On Detroit.
This incident remains under investigation. No motive has been revealed as to why the two were fired upon. There are currently no suspects in custody.
